As I wrote about in my previous blog – I am embarking on a cruise – something completely new to me. I have downloaded the app, filled out my pre-boarding, made sure my Sailor’s loot was added ... I left booking the specialty dining to my spouse. He’s good at that. Apparently, my job now is to plan our city walking tours. Mother vetoed the use of mopeds, so I guess we will be actually walking (did you think my mother wasn’t joining us?). Car rentals are cheap, and the islands are small – always an option (Note to self: Martinique ... need an international driver’s license).
Don’t Lie, You Do This Too
So I haven’t addressed the headline of this blog yet. I leave packing until about 2 hours before we leave. Conversely, as of last weekend, my husband was already packed. The passive aggressiveness on my part is just a pleasant byproduct (if I hear about the Seafood Tower at The Wave one. more. time.). If I pack too early, I pack way more than I need - think jewelry (I rarely wear my wedding band, let alone jewelry), clothing I haven’t fit into since high school (no judgment – I see you), a fire stick, the drone or a hair dryer. You never know. (Yes we have a drone. We have a side by side, of course we have a drone – why do you think I order expensive mascara?) ... back on topic:
Careful Assembly
Packing at the last minute lends itself to practicality – what I can’t leave home without. Those items would be a first aid kit, a book, portable charger, sanitizer wipes, Le Volume de Chanel, noise cancelling air pods, s’well bottle, a small Lulu towel, a plastic ziploc bag (for the wet towel) and my backpack (with 1 change of clothes in the bottom).
I already know I need 8 outfits, 1 hoodie, something to sleep in, two bathing suits, and 3 2 pairs of shoes. This is a Virgin Cruise – so I do need to pack a red outfit for Scarlet Night. And suntan lotion. That’s another blog.
